VETERINARY INFORMATION

Note! Since the race will be going through both Sweden and Norway, the stricter Norwegian vaccination regulations and the Swedish doping regulations apply!

Participants responsibility
All who participate in Amundsen Race and/or import dogs to Sweden from other countries should be aware about up to date import regulations. It is the participants own responsibility to get informed about these rules.

Vaccinations
All dogs coming from other countries then Sweden and Norway must have a valid rabies vaccination with approved antibodies. All dogs, regardless their land of origin, must be vaccinated against puppy disease, Parvo and infectious liver disease. Dogs vaccinated for first time should not have a vaccination which is older than 1 year (365 days). Revaccinated dogs (with other documented vaccinations on their vaccination booklet) should not have vaccinations which are older than 3 years on the day of racing. Vaccinationen should be done at least 14 days before the start of the race. It is also recommended that participating dogs are vaccinated against para influensa (kennel cough).

Echinococos
Dogs from out side of Sweden and Norway should be treated against echinococos within the last 10 days before travel from their country of residence. This should be certified by a veterinarian. Here after the dog needs to be treated in Sweden , at the latest 7 days after arrival. This also needs to be certified by a veterinarian.

Echinococos is a worm which fortunately is not common in Sverige, but which is to be found in other parts of Europe . This type of bandmask can contaminate humans and is deadly. It is therefore extremely important the the treatment is taken serious by the owner. There are various medications against echinococos on the market, but it is the veterinarians responsibility to prescribe the right treatment.

Foreign participants are advised to contact a veterinarian and treat the dogs directly after arrival in Sweden since our race veterinarian will not be able to treat all the dogs participating in the race. The treatment is obligated to all dogs from foreign countries participating in Amundsen Race.

Doping/medication
As a groundrule are all medications for dogs as well as doping of dogs and driver prohibited. When a participant is caught with medication in the sled, the participant runs the risk of being disqualified. Many medications have also quarantine rules, which means that those cannot be given a certain number of days before a race. For details about medications of dogs, see the website of  www.skk.se . In case of allowed necessary medication, please contact the race marshal before the race to avoid misunderstanding.

Pet passport
Pet passport for every individual dog is obligated with importation to Sweden (for dogs from other countries than Norway).
