All entrants who finish Amundsen Race for the first time are awarded this nice prize with the entrant's name listed. In 2009 did 34 rookies make it to Røros and in 2008 all 38 finishers were rookies, being it AR debut.

Payment after March 1st. involves an extra fee of 1000,-- SEK which totals 5.500,-- SEK. The original entry fee deadline was 25th of January. Same arrangment applies to Amundsen DUO, have a look at the Entry information. |

Amundsen Race is getting dog- and driver friendlier
Amundsen Race stays in line with Femundlöpet by making the race dog and driver friendlier. By doing so, we expect our event to become more accessible even for those who do not have the opportunity to train 4000 km. before February.
New in next year's race:
- Extra mandatory rest of 3 hours in checkpoint Ljungdalen
- Extra depot in checkpoint Ljungdalen
- Man post with bonfire, ca. 70 km. from start on stage Östersund-Ljungdalen
- More wind protected accommodation in Grövelsjön for mushers and handlers.
 We hope this will give many more the great opportunity to experience this sensational race and season's final rendez-vous as we would like to offer you all.

NEW FOR 2010: DUO RACE!
Östersund, 1. October 2009
Amundsen DUO is a relay race where 2 dogteams and 2 mushers form a team and compete against other Amundsen DUO's. Amundsen DUO is a race in itself with its own classification.
Rules for Amundsen DUO are the same as for Amundsen Race with the following changes:
- Each Duo team consists of 2 mushers who drive each one heat:
heat 1 (Östersund - Tänndalen) alternatively heat 2 (Tänndalen- Röros).
- Mandatory gear, including the sled, can be handed over between the team in checkpoint Tänndalen.
- The team should consist of max 12 and min 8 dogs per team and heat.
The dogs are NOT allowed to run both heats.
- One hour mandatory stopp in Tänndalen before the second team member leaves.
DUO drivers will be wearing a different colored bib from Amundsen Race drivers.
Masstarten on the ice of the great lake in Östersund and same trail as for Amundsen Race applies to DUO drivers. |
